Português: Derek Kettela nasceu em Toronto, Canadá. Como estudante do ensino médio, Derek era um ávido skatista e snowboarder, o que o levou à fotografia de esportes de ação. Enquanto morou em Vancouver, de 1997 à 2002, trabalhou como um fotógrafo colaborador sênior para a revista Transworld Snowboard, viajando ao Japão, Nova Zelândia, Chile e Europa durante o processo. Em 2003, Derek se mudou para Nova Iorque e mudou seu foco para a fotografia de moda. Desde então, construiu um trabalho impressionante no campo da moda. While living in Vancouver from 1997 to 2002 he worked as a senior contributing photographer for Transworld Snowboarding magazine, traveling to Japan, New Zealand, Chile, and Europe in the process. ln 2003, Derek relocated to New York City and changed his focus to fashion photography. Since then he has built an impressive body of work in the fashion field. His clients include Madewell, Uniqlo, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ann Taylor, Karen Walker, Philip Lim, J.Crew and Neinan Marcus.
