No momento tenho 18 anos e moro em Milwaukee, Wisconsin, E.U.A. Em Agosto me mudarei para New York, onde frequentarei a New York University.

At the moment I am 18 years old and living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. In August, I'll be moving to New York City where I will attend New York University. I was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to the United States at two years old, so I am kind of all over the place and I guess that might influence my work a bit.
I have been photographing for a little more than a year now. What once began as a hobby is slowly but surely turning into something more serious with more opportunities thanks to all of the countless blogs, magazines, and various online outlets that help me show my work to a bigger audience.
I photograph and post-process digitally, and the more I photograph the more I have noticed I have developed a personal style of portraiture influenced by various locations and natural light around me. In a month or so, I will have the opportunity to sell my work on the website prints995.com
starting mid-July, which I am very excited about. In the future I will continue to photograph, hopefully land some kind of internship one day, definitely study photography in college along with French and psychology, and see where everything takes me.
I must admit that this is my favorite photograph that I have ever taken. The subject of the photograph is my very good friend, Victoria. We had decided one day this past December to venture out into downtown Milwaukee in one of the worst snow blizzards the city has seen, and for us what was always remembered as the photo shoot with the wildest weather conditions, which in the end made for a fantastic environment for the photograph. What has always drawn me into the photograph however is the crisp detail of the red berries and the building behind the gate. The background behind Victoria is one of my favorite locations in the city, and to be honest, I still do not know what that building behind the red berry-covered gate is. Behind the cloudiness of the snow, I guess it is still left up to imagination.
My final year of high school consisted of creating a portfolio of 24 photographs, 12 of which were bound together by a theme, and this photograph was the last of the twelve images. My theme revolved around a collection of family slides I had discovered through my grandfather. He must have had suitcases and suitcases of thousands of slides hiding in his storage closet. When I shuffled through some of them, I had found a window of my family's history that I was too young to remember, or not even alive yet to experience in Russia. By positioning myself in front of these projections between various surfaces, (in this photograph it was against various mirrors) I created a self portrait that forced myself into a forgotten family past.
